The Royal Show - Visiting - Your Views, Your Show, Your Memories
YOUR VIEWS, YOUR SHOW, YOUR MEMORIES

A project about the history of farming communities is helping to create a record of
your memories of the Royal Show. “My Farming Life” is a history project delivered by
Warwickshire Rural Community Council and supported by Heritage Lottery Fund that
records memories and collects images from farms and farming people.
Based near Stoneleigh and set up in 1937, as one of the national network of Rural Community Councils, the organisation is principally concerned with supporting rural communities through initiatives such as Rural Housing Enabling and Supporting Rural Enterprise. Their history project is a new venture designed to create an oral history collection of interviews with farming families in North Warwickshire. At their stand on Avenue L (54-5), the team will be ready with voice recorders and a video camera to record your recollections of the Royal, throughout the 20th century.
Project Manager/Researcher Fiona Henderson said
“It’s important to find out what people recall and to capture those memories about times and lifestyles that have changed. We’ll be posting the material on the project website, along with images that we collect. It will be a fascinating insight”.
