Royal Show keeps the door open for late livestock entries
The Royal Show is keeping open opportunities for late entries to cattle, sheep and pig classes to close of business Tuesday, May 13th, to help exhibitors struggling with the movement restrictions due to Bluetongue.
The Royal Show site at Stoneleigh in Warwickshire is right on the border between the Bluetongue restriction zone in the east of England and the disease surveillance zone which covers the whole of England with some exceptions in north of Yorkshire and Lancashire. Many potential entrants are holding out to the last possible minute to see whether any of that changes before taking a final decision.
“We understand that the current disease issues are causing horrendous problems for our exhibitors and we are doing everything in our power to be as flexible as possible to accommodate them. Many have been in constant touch, eager to show animals at the Royal because they recognise its importance but reluctant to commit themselves in a period of such uncertainty,” said Royal Show Director, Simon Frere-Cook.
“We have already announced that, due to the current exceptional circumstances, we will guarantee that livestock fees will be returned if any exhibitor is unable to attend the Show due to the disease restrictions. A full refund will be issued for those unable to move animals from their area to Stoneleigh at the time of the show.
