Our Family Profiles:
Food Exhibitor (Midlands)
Visitors to the Royal Show Food Hall will be able to toast 100 years of the National Farmers Union with a bottle of Farmers Harvest – a superb amber ale created to celebrate the centenary of the NFU and the first beverage in the UK to be awarded the Red Tractor Certificate.
The brew will be on offer courtesy of West Midlands’ brewers, Purity Brewing Company – a business in the finest tradition of small English brewers and keen to make an impression among discriminating ale enthusiasts at the Show. The company’s bar in the Food Hall will be selling their two award winning ales, Pure UBU and Pure Gold, as well as bottles of Farmers Harvest.
This is the first year that Purity Brewing, owned by Paul Halsey, Jim Minkin, and Paul Evans, will exhibit at the Royal Show. The brewery, set up in 2005 and sited in purpose converted barns in Great Alne, currently supplies 84 Tesco stores across the Midlands. Purity prides itself as a company committed to making a difference, demanding premium quality and uniqueness in its products. A commitment to the environment is also central to its work, using only natural ingredients, and supporting recycling programmes.
The Royal Show, which runs from July 3rd to 6th at Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth Warwickshire offers an ideal opportunity for consumers to find out more about where their food comes from. As consumers increasingly seek out local produce, it is good to see Show exhibitors like Purity Brewing aiming to create better local awareness of their products.
Pure UBU, named after the brewery dog, is a distinctive Premium amber coloured beer, and was named one of the World’s 50 Best Beers in the 2007 International Beer challenge. Meanwhile Pure Gold, a refreshing golden ale, was recently voted Champion Beer of Warwickshire 2008.
Food and drink buyers will have two main ports of call at the Show with a large and varied Farmers Market outside and a specialist Food Hall under cover which has a wide array of food to eat on the day or to take home and stock the freezer.
