The Royal Show 2009: 7 - 10 July 2009
Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire
More food and the best French wines; more
than 2000 horses and a close encounter with
Britain’s finest cows, sheep and pigs – that’s
what’s on offer at The Royal Show 2009 from
Tuesday 7 – Friday 10 July at Stoneleigh Park
in Warwickshire.
This year’s “Royal” will be tinged with sadness
as the Royal Agricultural Society of England,
the show organisers, announced that this will
be the 160th and last Show.
So be there to share in a piece of British
rural history. Enjoy cookery and craft
demonstrations and countryside pursuits, an
extended farmers’ market and food halls, show
jumping and plenty of opportunities to shop!
There will also be an action-packed programme
in the Grand Ring. Across the show there will
be numerous chances to try fresh British food
and for the first time 50 French wine growers
will be exhibiting at the Show – offering
visitors over 200 wines to sample and buy!
For those visitors who fancy a taste of the
‘good life’, new for 2009 is an extended
smallholder exhibition where you will find Easy
Care Sheep, Alpacas, curly pigs, beekeepers,
and a pond complete with ducks – as well as
on-site allotments.
Once again, the Show plays home to the
ever-popular Flower Show competition, as well
as flower arranging and horticultural
demonstrations, to help add a finishing touch
to your home and garden. There will also be
experts on-hand to offer tips and advice for
your gardening plans!
Some of the other highlights for The Royal Show
2009 include:
- An emphasis on fresh and local in all food outlets with Farmers Market food courts in all showground areas
- A ‘shop and drop’ facility allowing you to shop with the benefit of not having to carry the bags all day!
- One of the country’s biggest annual equestrian events with seven new equestrian classes including Horse of the Year Show Qualifiers
So make sure you have the 7 – 10 July in
your diary! Great offers are available for
booking early, including discount packages for
families, students, groups and concessions. In
addition, entry to the show is free for
children under five.
